The Van gets a sound system and a bath

Posted by Captain PJ

Over the weekend the GNP wired up the van (1991 Ford Econoline) for sound. Rope lighting was also added to the back so passengers can see in the dark while drinking heavily. After all of this, I decided the clean up the van a bit. I washed the outside, which in my estimation has not been washed with soap and water in 15 years. Who knew beer and rain wasnt enough to keep the outside clean? Ive never seen so much dirt in my life, and plenty of white paint also, since it failed about 8 years ago prob.

Anyway its beautiful now. ill be cleaning the inside also, I tried to armorall the dash but i need at least 23 gallons of it to make a dent in the sunfaded cornflower blue plastic. I also created a Kerry Collins Wall of Fame on a wall in the back using a pack of Kerry Collins trading cards i found in the back and some magnet frames. While washing the outside I found a bunch of leaks in the roof and caulked them up from outside and inside, so hopefully thatll work, mostly from the screws from the roof rack.

Giants Draft 2009

Posted by Captain PJ
  No Comments

2009 Draft Class

  • Round 1- Hakeem Nicks - WR - 6′1″ 212lbs - UNC - A strong playmaker with the talent to be a #1 WR in the future. One concern is whether he will get too big like Mike Williams from USC a few years back
  • Round 2 - Clint Sintim - OLB - 6′3″ 256 - Virginia - A 3-4 OLB, a good fit for the Giants scheme of moving players around on pass downs
  • Round 2- William Beatty - OT - 6′6″ 307 - UConn - Best player on the Giants board at the time, could be a good backup this year, we’ve been thin at OT the last few years and this helps our depth
  • Round 3 - Ramses Barden - WR - 6′6″ 229 - Cal poly - A huge target with Inspector Gadget size arms, coming from a small school, hopefully can turn into a Marques Colston type player.
  • Round 3- Travis Beckham - TE - 6′3″ 243 - Wisconsin - An athlete, special teams player for now
  • Round 4 - Andre Brown - RB - 6′0″ 224 - NC State - Jerry Reese loves this RB, could be a steal, can fill in nicely for the departed Derrick Ward
  • Round 5 - Rhett Bomar - QB - 6′2″ 225 - Sam Houston State - All the potential in the world, #1 high school QB in the country, got kicked out of Oklahoma, played well for Sam Houston St.
  • Round 6 - DeAndre Wright - DB - 5′11″ 198 - New Mexico
  • Round 7 - Stoney Woodson - DB - 5′11″ 197- South Carolina

I like the Giants draft, but who the hell knows how these guys will turn out. Undrafted players become hall of Famers and #1 picks become used car salesmen. I like Nicks and Andre Brown, I think theyre locks to make the team and have an impact. I also like the 6′6″ Barden, you cant teach size, and he is a huge target. I love drafting enormous people in later rounds, a la Brandon Jacobs, who wasnt polished but had the size of a bull. So we will see how it turns out

Looks like a lot of garbage games at home this year.  I understand a GNP road trip may be in the planning stages…

Finally, a little surprising that the Jets will close out the regular season at GIANTS Stadium.  I guess it is a little appropriate… Unlike the Jets, the Giants will have home field throughout the playoffs so they will most certainly play the last game at Giants Stadium.

GNP lives on with 4 season tickets in the new stadium!

Posted by Captain PJ
  No Comments

Thats right, if all goes according to plan, the GNP now has 4 PSL’s and season tickets starting in 2010 in the new stadium. As the most senior member on the Giants season ticket waiting list in the GNP, I was able to procure 4 PSLs in the Field 3 section of the new stadium. We’ll know definitively by June/July what seats we get (if we get them). But the down payment is in, and everythings ready to go. The GNP lives on into the new stadium, gonna be good times! check out www.nyg2010.com for all new stadium info

Off season van work!

Posted by dan
  6 Comments

These were my thoughts for the van; I don’t think we wanna spend more than 500 each on the van this year inclusive of the insurance, so this is what I though;

FIRST OFF WE HAVE HEAT AND THE CIGRETTEE LIGHTER NOW WORK!!!! THE HEAT BLOWS HOT STEAMY AIR! HE WAS ABLE TO FIX THE BLOWER, AND REPLACED THE HEAT CONTROL SWITCH AND WE WIRES ALL FOR 80 BUCKS!

New exhaust and muffler - said he could do it for 100-150.

new passenger and sliding door - said he could prob get a both doors for less than 100 each, the sliding door might be more and install them 50 - 60 bucks

Tune up, sparks plugs, spark plugs wires, distributor cap - said he could do it cheaper then we could, only 150-200

I think Kork knows the most about cars out of all of us so I will see what Kork thinks before I do anything….

for the inside…my brother Chris and I have a bunch of old speakers, subs and amps that we are donating to the van all we need is a head unit (radio), does anyone have one? We need a good one with sub, rear, front pre-outs, because we are wiring in some serious stuff, I also wanted to wire in the Power inverter I have so we can plug stuff in, maybe a fan for the summer rides…

I will need to buy a couple things like wiring harness/ radio install kit and an amp kit, but should be no more than 70-80 dollars

So after we do all this, lets see how much money we have spent and worse case we save the paint job for next year…what are your guys thoughts?

Rams hire Spagnuolo as head coach

Posted by Captain PJ
  1 Comment

Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is now the head coach of the St Louis Rams. No word on a replacement yet, as long as we get a somewhat decent DC I think we shall be in good shape bc we have a lot of good players on defense. Too bad he couldnt take Kevin Gilbride with him.

Giants fans obliterate Porsche in parking lot

Posted by Captain PJ

Check this out. The title is a little misleading, these 2 cars were already burned and obliterated because the Porsche parked over a pile of hot coals and blew up.

http://deadspin.com/5130124/new-york-giants-fans-take-out-sundays-frustration-on-burned-vehicles

Basically its a pack of drunken fools who decided to beat the hell out of a totaled car. I dont see the big deal, the cars are already totaled anyway.

So what did we learn today?

  1. Don’t bring your Porsche to Giants Stadium.
  2. If you don’t follow rule #1, don’t park on top of a steaming hot pile of charcoal, because your Porsche will explode into a towering inferno of char.
  3. Don’t dump your pile of hot coal into a parking spot just to “see what happens” when some high society non tailgating shmo parks on top of it.
  4. If you come across a totaled car, don’t add insult to injury and total it more.
  5. If you don’t follow rule #4, don’t put the ensuing video of criminal mischief on YouTube.
  6. If this happened in Philadelphia, degenerate parents would be showing their soon to be scumbag kids this video, saying “Thats what you do to opponents cars in the parking lot, son”.

Giants season over

Posted by Captain PJ
  1 Comment

Well i dont have to go into detail about why we lost the game, terrible playcalling, bad QB play, missed opportunities in the red zone, etc. Nonetheless its a disappointing end to a season in which the Giants were on the fast track to another Super Bowl victory. Changes are going to be made, players will come and go, and we have a whole offseason to reflect on what went wrong. On the bright side this saves me a few thousand dollars from going to the Super Bowl in Tampa. I really hate the Eagles, but even more I hate Eagles fans. I can not reiterate how classless and dispicable Philadelphia Eagles fans are. If anyone knows an Eagles fan who is not a complete and utterly total waste of human life, please direct them to me, because I have never met such a person. There has to be at least one out there, maybe. Well it was a great season tailgating, the pictures are up from the Eagles game, enjoy. BTW, everyone must watch the videos of Little Dan scaling the ice mountain.

Giants vs Eagles - NFC Divisional Playoff game

Posted by Captain PJ
  4 Comments

The Giants get set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday at 1pm in the NFC divisional game. Early weather forecast is a decent but cold day, with a high of 27 and a low of 19 degrees. The Giants are coming off their first round bye, and really almost 2 full weeks of rest because the last game of the seaosn was played like a 3rd preseason game. After playing 10 straight games against teams with winning records, they certainly needed the rest, but hopefully it is not too much rest and they didn’t forget how to play football. You see it every year with teams who rest their entire team and they lose the first playoff game, case in point the Colts, who seem to rest everyone to an extreme degree and also seem to lose in the first round very often.

This is the 3rd game against the Eagles this year, and both teams know each other very well. Neither team will be tricked by any play or surprised by any tactic. It comes down to beating the hell out of the guy in front of you. Heres my 3 keys to the game-

1- Stop Brian Westbrook. We are all familiar with the dynamic running and receiving abilities of this player. nuff said

2- Pressure McNabb. The last game against Philly we couldnt sniff McNabb and he sat back there and completed every 3rd down in the game. Hit McNabb early in the game and he gets all nervous and holds on to the ball and goes down. It would be great if Justin Tuck has a Osi-like performance this week. The return of a healthy Fred Robbins in the middle should help this, as he will definately eat up some double teams.

3- No pick 6’s. Asante Samuel is a big game player who thrives on the pick 6. Because of this he is also capable of being burned by the double move and getting beat deep. Hixon has to take advantage of this and Eli has to hit him deep so that the safeties have to respect the pass a bit more and dont stack the box to stop Brandon Jacobs, as they did in their last outing.

Finally, the Giants better win this game so i dont have to listen to, or deal with, the trash/scum/incompetent Philadephia Eagles fans who pollute the world with their low class nonsense.
