One week til Opening Night!!

Posted by Captain PJ
  1 Comment

Last preseason game tonight against the Pats. You know what that means. Only one week until opening night and the opening tailgate of the season! Last minute preparations are underway to make sure we are ready to dominate both in the parking lot before the game and on the field during the game. So some last minute things.

-Do we need more bungee cords to tie the stuff down to the roof?

-Juiceman, gotta bring plastic silverware etc from your house

-Kork bring that new tent if possible

-Are there any musical requests for the new season? My ipod is always updated, but are there any requests? I know Juiceman wants some more hannah montana, and kork requested more jonas brothers. But let me know what u guys want

-Add whatever im forgetting.

Kiwanuka to replace Osi

Lots of speculation about Strahan possibly unretiring, but i dont think its going to happen. As of now, it appears that Kiwi is going to move to DE fulltime, with Danny Clark or Gerris Wilkinson moving to SLB, the other staying at WLB.

Kiwi def has pass rushing potential however i dont know how hes going to stack up against the run. From what i remember 2 years ago when he was plugged in there he was not very good against the run. Now that he hasnt played at DE for over a year i cant imagine his run defense got any better. But eh should get better as the season goes on, but look for teams to abuse the run towards his side.

Osi likely out for season….

Osi to undergo surgery, likely out for the year. No details yet on what ligaments were damaged or a timetable for his return, but likely a season ender. This is a crushing blow to the Giants defense. Theres only one player on this team more valuable than Osi and thats Eli. Everything changes without Osi in there. Tuck will be double teamed every play now, not sure how hes going to react to that, or if whoever replaces Osi will be able to step up.

And whos going to replace him? Do you move Kiwanuka from LB back to DE full time? He probably is the best DE still behind Tuck. Do you plug in Renaldo Wynn and move Kiwi there on passing downs? Do you use a DT like Jay Alford or Robbins on the outside? Maybe it will be a combination of all three. There will def be some sort of rotation in my opinion bc theres not a single player on this team who can step in for Osi on every down. But maybe a rotation can be somewhat effective. Either way, this sucks.

Giants vs Jets preseason game 3

Posted by Captain PJ

Tomorrow night the annual Jets-Giants preseason game. Its a Jets home game, the over/under on the number of Favre jerseys in the crowd is at 64,263.

Obviously, being the 3rd preseason game, this is the game that the starters will play the most. Most Giants starters will play til halftime, maybe some into the 3rd quarter. For the guys on the bubble, most interesting i think is the battle between Droughns and Danny Ware for a roster spot. Special teams will likely be the deciding factor as neither will get many carries in the regular season with Jacobs, Bradshaw, and Ward ahead of them. But mostly this game is the tune up for the starters.

And of course some guy named Favre is playing for the Jets. The Giants have said its always weird playing in the Meadowlands as the away team. And the stadium should be packed for a preseason game with Favre playing. And as Shaun O’Hara said, “the weird aspect is to be in your own stadium and hearing cheers for the other team. We are used to being booed at times, but not necessarily hearing cheers for the other team.”

Here is a video of Brett Favre highlights-

Browns vs Giants - 8/18/08

Browns vs Giants tonight. Remember to watch it on ESPN 8pm. Browns will be wearing some new fangled brown pants instead of their old ones. Obviously none of us are going to the game, bc well, preseason games suck major ass.

So grab a few beers, and watch as long as you can endure meaningless football. One interesting thing is 6th rd draft pick Andre Woodson at QB, who is going to follow Eli and Wright at QB. I wouldnt be surprised if David Carr doesnt even play. Also at WR Brandon London is trying to make the team and might get a roster spot bc of all the WR injuries. Plax, Toomer, Steve Smith, David Tyree, and Mario Manningham probably wont play tonight. Dont expect to see Manningham or Tyree on the field anytime soon either. Also watch Kenny Phillips at safety.

GNP VAN COMPLETE - 8/17/08

van

After a day of hard work by Dan and myself, we have completed the mighty GNP van. The finishing touches were put on- a 2nd coat of blue paint, a bunch of well placed Giants memorabilia was placed around the van, shower curtain was installed, and we put air in the spare tire. I took pics with my iphone so the quality isnt the best.

Pre Season games

Posted by Captain PJ
  2 Comments

ok, heres my story, i can go to the preseason game on Monday 8/18 against Cleveland. I cant go to the game 8/28 against the pats bc i have work. I wouldnt want to go to that game anyway bc its the final preseason game, so no starters are even going to play. If you guys cant go on Monday 8/18, thats cool, i really dont care if i go to any preseason games, i havent been to one in like 3 years. But some of us def should go to one game just to scope out the lot, do the usual scouting of the area, etc.

Kenny Phillips looked good tonight for the Giants

Did you catch the game tonight?

What did you think?

It was encouraging to see Carr stick in the pocket and look decent. I read somewhere that he’s been a puss in camp so far.
