So there is very little pressure that can be applied to the cable companies.

Al- are you just a fan or do you have some tie in to the situation. You know quite a bit about the topic. You aren't a disgruntled Cablevision employee are you?

Any Giants or Jets games carried on the NFL Network will be picked up by one of the locals. That is confirmed, so we will get to watch it on tv.

Good job explaining Al. The only $$ I currently give Cablevision is for Opt Online. I am seriously considering switching to FIOS but need to do more research before switching. I think Verizon is starting to offer Direct TV through FIOS. Haven't heard of anyone that uses it yet.

Until the NFL network has more than just 6 games a year it will be tough to create the pressure needed to get Cablevision to cave in. I think the Giants/Redskins game this year is one of those 6 games. Interesting to see what happens in the NY market. In the past when those games were on cable (ESPN) the ESPN feed would get picked up by one of the locals. Not sure if that will happen this year.

It's all corporate politics bro... basically, the NFL Network wants to be in the digital tier of the cable package, meaning, they want about $1.50-$2.00 per subscriber that cablevision has, when cablevision isn't willing to dish out that type of $$$ and willing to put it only in it's basic package. It's the same shyt that went down with the Yes Network a couple of years ago. I just read this yesterday, read below.... I had Directv up to a year ago, when the house I was living in was put up for sale. I moved to an apt. building which only allows cablevision connection. It doesn't allow dish equpiment to be installed. Then I spoke to the building super, about the possibilities of getting a dish put up, and he tells me "no, the building admininstration was paid off by cablevision, to make it a cablevision exclusive building"... That sucks right there. Why can't I have a choice??? That's illegal there, but they get away with it, because they say that attaching equipment can damage the structure of the building. So I'm stuck with the cablevision empire providing me with service. Again, read below....

The NFL Network, which will air a slate of primetime Thursday and Saturday games beginning on Thanksgiving night, recently announced deals with a bunch of cable systems.

Not yet on that list are Time Warner Cable and Cablevision.

Those two big systems continue to play hardball with NFLN. It's doubtful either will be doing a deal with the network anytime soon.

There simply is not the same pressure for either Cablevision or Time Warner to carry NFLN as there was for regional sports networks like YES,SNY, and MSG.

Thanks for clarifying Al. You know that if Cablevision owned the NFL network it would be part of everyone's basic cable. At least the Dolan's are doing a great job with MSG, the Knicks and the Rangers. HAHAHAHA.
I am still waiting to see their great plans to develop the site the Jets wanted to build on. Dolan never had any intention of putting anything up on that site. As soon as the Jet deal fell through you never heard a thing from Cablevision.

At least you guys get News 12 and the Metro traffic and Weather channel (more Cablevision owned channels). Boy I couldn't live without those

Al- Do you know why Cablevision won't pick up NFL network and offer it as a premium channel?
