As most of you already heard, GNP favorite Jeremy Shockey was traded to the Saints for a 2nd rd, and 5th rounder in the 2009 draft.

Ive always been a fan of Shockey, mostly bc hes a drunken madman, but also bc he always played very hard and with alot of emotion. That being said, he is a very good tight end, possibly still Top 5 in the league. He was always a very good receiver, but he also developed into the Giants best run blocking TE also. We are not a better team without Shockey. Kevin Boss does not require a double team, nor does he really need to command bracket coverage by a LB. Yes, we won without Shockey, all the way to the Super Bowl, but thats a small sample.
Shockey’s emotion will also be missed. How many times did we see him on the sidelines getting guys pumped up in between series? Thats where we will miss Shockey and Strahan most.
But he needed to be traded. He didnt want to be here, and theres no reason he should be on the team if he doesnt want to be here. You can argue the Giants shouldve traded him before the draft to get a tight end, but they probably thought they would get more than a 2nd & 5th. As it turns out, its the best deal they couldve gotten so they took it. Im gonna miss the crazy son of a bitch tho

we’ll definately miss him but it was time to go. he didn’t feel like he was being utilized properly and this team has too much going on without him begging for the ball each play.
hopefully he’ll do well in NO. I’m sure most of us will still be rooting for him.
I’m also confident that with Reese’s handling of the last two drafts we’ll get some good players for him, although Jason Taylor would have been a great pickup too.

Daily News was reporting that the Giants were in talks with Miami for a swap - shockey for taylor. Apparently the talks never went too far.
In other news… there will alot of outdated jerseys at the stadium this year. =)

good thing my shockey jersey is 6 years old and all tattered. No worries though, i have a brand new “authentic” Burress super bowl jersey for this years festivities.

I loved his emotion but it was all an act. How many passes did he drop? Too many. He is a me first player. Sure he wanted to win but only if he was a big part of it. Good Riddance selfish prick.You can go bitch at Drew Brees now because you were open on every single play and only caught 3 balls. Between Deuce, Reggie Bush, Colston and Shockey there is only one ball. Shockey will be complaining again shortly.
