Reports coming through that Plaxico “accidentally” shot himself in the thigh Friday night in a nightclub.  Apparently it is not life threatening but no other info is available yet.

So… Plax’s hamstring keeps him out of Sunday’s game but not out of dancing in The Latin Quarter Friday night and setting off his weapon.

 **Update: ESPN reporting that the incident occured at The Latin Quarter in Manhattan.  Detectives are investigating. Plaxico was released from the hospital this afternoon.

**Update: Yahoo! reports that Burress was shot in the thigh and that the bullet just “grazed” him. “He’s really lucky”. The bullet tore skin and no muscle or bone was damaged.

**Update: Family member says he could return in a few weeks. Unknown if charges of illegal possession of a firearm and/or concealed weapon, or reckless endangerment in the first degree charges could change that. The Giants will not address Plaxico’s status with the team until all the facts are gathered which may take until next week. However, I think we can all be confident that Goodell will drop the hammer on number 17.

It has been reported that Antonio Pierce was at the club with Plax. Sadly, that was one safety Pierce couldn’t move into position.
